From Meteor to Galaxy
In 2012, we created Meteor.js, an open-source framework that made building real-time web applications in JavaScript simple. Meteor.js changed how developers thought about full-stack apps, and a global community quickly formed around it.
That community grew to 44.8K+ GitHub stars and 508,000+ unique installs. Over time, it became clear that developers needed more than a framework. They needed infrastructure they could trust.
In 2019, Tiny, the Canadian technology holding company behind Dribbble, Metalab, Serato, and other developer-focused businesses, acquired Meteor.js and Galaxy. Tiny's philosophy is simple: acquire great products, protect their culture, and give teams the autonomy to keep building. Under Tiny's stewardship, the Meteor team gained the stability and long-term support needed to invest in the platform's future.
With that backing, we expanded Galaxy from a cloud platform purpose-built for Meteor apps into a broader offering supporting Node.js, Python, and modern web applications, along with managed PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Redis.
Today, Galaxy is a comprehensive cloud platform where developers can focus on building great software instead of managing operations.
